At Petit Lion Language Academy we respect each child as a unique individual. The best type of learning comes from meaningful experiences, conversations and interactions. We send daily photo and activity updates so you are kept in the loop of our curriculum and can see your child’s progress daily!
Daily curriculum includes STEM, Yoga, Cooking, Art, Reading and Writing with ample outdoor play. Cultivating a sense of Self Awareness and Socialization is a top priority. At Petit Lion we value cultural diversity and embrace it through global food, music and celebration.

Petit Lion Language Academy is a French and Spanish Language Immersion Preschool established in Carlsbad, CA since 2020. The Language Immersion method is the most natural and intuitive way to learn. This is in fact the same way we have all learned to speak!
The optimal time to learn a new language is during the preschool years. After this time it becomes increasingly difficult to fully acquire a new language.
There are 29 French speaking countries and 21 Spanish speaking countries.

Curriculum
Our program bridges the Play-Based Philosophy of Reggio Emilia with Traditional Academic. This approach works by fostering an enriching environment that promotes exploration, inquiry and discovery. This allows children to be more receptive to learning and participating in teacher guided activities. Teachers work collaboratively to create a curriculum that touches upon all areas of development; Social-Emotional, Cognitive and Physical. Foundations of science, math, reading and writing and the arts are developed daily.
Social-Emotional, Cognitive and Physical development takes place. We have structured group time every morning where we greet each other, sing songs, read and discuss the day followed by a group activity.
Our program is focused on ages 1-4 (until 5th birthday) . We have two groups 1-3yrs and 3-4 yrs. During free-play we allow age groups to mix which offers many educational benefits!

FOUNDER
Founder Léonie Espinosa is a Native French speaker with a Bachelors Degree from Cal State Northridge and is certified as an Early Childhood Master Teacher and Director. Working with children has always been a passion and she has provided quality care to infants, preschoolers and middle school aged children in various capacities for over 15 years. This time has been spent as an Administrator at UCLA Bright Horizons, Yoga Instructor at Inner City LA Charter Schools and Preschool Teacher in multilingual settings. Léonie has worked closely with special needs children and happily works with parents to maintain an inclusive classroom.
As a certified yoga teacher, she is always finding ways to incorporate mindfulness and movement into the classroom. Mrs. Espinosa has a strong sense of what she feels is missing in preschools and how that gap can be filled. An educator and mother, Léonie is excited to bring to Carlsbad a preschool where your children will thrive!
